1. The Coral - Butterfly House

Well, that's one day over, one rather enjoyable indie-rock album to tick off the list.

I'd only sampled a few early hits from The Coral before I listened to this. As is the case for most people, radio play of Dreaming Of You and Pass It On were about the extent of my experience of the band. I do own their first album, but I've never given it a full run through yet.

Having heard Butterfly House today (which is an upbeat yet relaxing collection of indie-rock tunes) however, I'm wondering why on earth that is the case.

After what you might call a 'safe but unspectacular' start, featuring some nice, upbeat acoustic guitar work, there's plenty of variation in both vocals and guitars as the album progresses.

Although it keeps a consistent tempo throughout most of the tracks, there are a couple of quieter songs (Falling All Around You, one of the album's highlights, being one of them) and some more powerful riffs and solos thrown in every now again, such as in stand-out tracks Butterfly House and Two Faces, and the finale North Parade.

3.5/5 - Would definitely recommend you give it a listen on Spotify, great album to chill out to. Thanks to Liam for suggesting!
